Pictures of Us

I really like our themes! The girls are medieval, and the boys are somewhat Olympic, and Abe is the christmas boy! Mum did everything to make them possible! the lights, the action, and shots! These are recent and we haven't changed a bit! We wish you a very blessed, happy, merry, jolly, artistic, loving, and Snazy CHRISTMAS FOR MANY YEARS TO COME! All in favor of that, say, "Ay!" (Please Comment on this!)

On the 2nd day of Christmas, My true love gave to me...A love-ly Poem!

Christmastide Explanations By Avi D.
Theres one thing that comes but once a year, thats when the men drink yuletide beer; And when the woman roast goose and duck, and the children all cross their fingers for luck.
It is always the time for trimming the tree, And thats the time when the mice are free, For everyone knows, with Christmas gay, Its a shame to be kept in the mouse-hole all day.
And the table is filled with kin and food, And the children all try very hard to be good; And the dog and the cat are friends at last. (But still have a time sharing the hash)
Its when the doors are open to all, Hobo and the christmas carol; When Silent Night rings out softly and clear, and the home seems ever more so dear!
Its when the presents are around the tree, and when the children coo happily; When Santa Claus makes his rounds, Around the world, the reindeers bound. But most of all it is the day that Christ was born and all was gay.

The Eve before Christmas Eve

Imagine! Christmas eve is really tomorrow at last! This Advent went very quickly, and now the Final days of Advent are coming to an end and the 12 days of Christmas are nearly here. The craft this post is TP roll nativity sets. We did these with our cousins and it was lots of fun. Mum printed out the coloring pages from a blog called Catholic Cupcakes, but really, you can make your own figures faces and clothes! I thought it would be really cool if they had real fabric clothes on to make it seem more alive, but I have to try that some other year. (I'm saving up my TP rolls now!) First you color the figures, paste them on the TP rolls, and let it dry. Then set them up anyway you vision the nativity. They are very cute and we've had quite a few comments on them when people visit our house. I was the one who colored Mary, Joseph, and the palm tree, and one sheep. My brother, Eph, did the most since he was very involved with the coloring. The wise men are still traveling on the countertops until Epiphany.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! -Avi

A Sample Of My Work aged 9

Cute really. I also had this in another blogpost but in case you don't want to go back that far, just lookee here! A little Girl on a walk to the park was inspired by my little sister Hetty, although she doesn't have the ringlets, but whenever she sees this picture she says, "That me!" I look back and now I realize I was very much into the normal little things we do each day and now sometimes if you look in my sketch pad, you will find Ali Bwacha, the arabic thief, or a pink elephant dancing on a stage!

Something(Adventy)

Well! Here I am after two days of partying and manning a booth at our annual church Advent Festival! Quite a blast! My dad and me share a booth together this year. My side is filled with little pics I have made, using my talents with watercolor and an ink pen. They sold very well and I was a little proud that my side got more buyers than ads side, even if my dad has much better art than me! I was asked even to illustrate a french book, and I had comments from everyone which surprised me so much, since my little pictures are very...CUTE!(and simple)It was very fun and I got to look after the booth while the boys went to church. (I had already gone at 7:45) It was really quite the job as I had many temptations to go and dance with my friends while christmasy music blasted on like an elephant opera! But all too soon my dad and the boys cam
e back. Anyway, it was real inspiring, due to all the booths that held such lovely crafts and things. I was quite bamboozled at all the creativity of the parishioners and new comers. Also me and my mom were on this amazing blog that was by this lady who turns garbage into something truly beautiful! The blog is this: www.michele made me.com It is way more better than this and I just couldn't believe all the possibilities that can be done with TP rolls, christmas cards, and more! Her basement it full to the brim with neatly organized garbage which means that she rarely has to go to craft store. That would probably be the perfect escape for me! Its truly amazing that all these talented ladies can make such brainwashing, astounding, and awesome crafts with plain junk mail and the garbage can! Have a blessed Monday and lovely christmas-crazy week! God Bless YOU! Avi P.S. The picture is of a little boy all dressed for sunday and he is waiting in the front hall for his family!

Decorating For the Holidays

Amazingly, our family still has the artificial pine garland from last year and it is twined around our banister. We usually get rid of the "Made in China" christmas products. We really only need the real christmas tree to brighten up our home, but as this is a really beautiful holiday season, we need everything that is christmasy and cheery for the house. Our prayer table also is very nice as well. We have our main dyptich draped with a tulle purple ribbon in honor of Advent, and our jesse tree and advent wreath stand by, as a vicar for the holidays. We are still unpacking our christmas boxes and we are soon going to get a tree for the Family Room. A good friend gave us chocolate almonds that we are saving for christmas, and we have a long garland of stockings that are for counting the days before christmas day and in each one there is a christmas ornament. We had leftover bells from a decoration that fell apart and so I strung a pretty green and gold ribbon and it looks so beautiful used as a tree ornament. Also we are making cotton-ball snowman's for the trimming of the tree. Its all very homey here. My desk drawer is totally filled with christmas secrets and all. I really need to organize, thats for sure. I also mean to to finish my christmas wrapping this week. Also, I am thinking of maybe starting a new blog called Sockmonkeys On the Couch, but I m not positive yet. Just stay tuned. I was actually very surprised that I have so many new ideas for this blog. I really am surprised at its success this far. Advent Blessings! That picture is me and my mom using special effects on photo booth. We are an amazing Decorating team! Mother Daughter, Head to Head! Advice for Advent, Christmas, and the year

Advent: Prepare a stable in your heart for Jesus, Mary and Joseph, by controlling tempers, fights, and teasing. (This one is for me!) Make a beautiful gift for the Christ Child by praying the rosary as a family, and saying special prayers for the souls in purgatory. It pains Jesus to see the souls suffer for Heaven. Think about others and not yourself if you are making an X-mas letter to St. Nick. I love to crochet and make things for family members as well as I like receiving gifts! Make a real effort to make things easier for your mom and dad, husband, or sibling! Anything helps! Christmas: Don't quickly pull the things out of your stocking! Enjoy the moment! I'm trying this, this year as well! Save your christmas candy so as not to go to sleep on christmas night with stomach pains. Limit yourself at the christmas feast. One rumball is a lot for young stomachs. Remember to thank your gift givers for their time and money on making or buying your gift! Remember Jesus's birth throughout the day as it is his B-day and he has no gift such as toys, and electric trains! Make sure you sing songs with a new meaning for Jesus. Jesus will appreciate even if it is the old "Jingle Bells"! Thank Jesus for giving you a wonderful X-mas day! He gave his birthday all to you because he loves you so much! 2014: See the old year out with many good deeds and start the new, with many more! Make a resolution and then tape it on your bedroom wall and stick to it! Make sure you have a good and honest goal before you start doing it!
Advent Blessings! Avi P.S. This is the Shroud of Turin, my dad is very dedicated to this image, sincerely.

Christ The King Bread/Whole Wheat Bread

This bread is very simple, I have made it to times with the Mum and its a priceless family memory! There's nothing like homemade bread! Also I haven't done a craft for a log time so this takes place of it and I do have a craft for The Dedication of St. Peter and St. Paul Basilica in ROME. Prep 30 minutes Rise 1/2 hours Bake 35 minutes Oven 375 degree's Makes 2 loaves(24 servings) 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 package active dry yeast 1 3/4 cups water 1/3 cup brown packed sugar 3 tablespoons butter 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt 2 cups whole wheat flour In a large mixing bowl combine the all-purpose flour and the yeast. Set this aside and in a sauce pan heat and stir water, brown sugar, butter, and salt just until warm and the butter just melts. Wait till cooled and then pour into the mixing bowl with the flour and yeast. After 30 seconds knead and set it to rise. After it has risen, divide and place into bread pans and slide into heated oven. ENJOY! Key craft Cut a piece of paper into the shape of a key. Color it in, add stickers if you want. Then in your best penmanship write, Zac's key of remembrance, or The key to Pure joy! But, put your name at the beginning instead!

My Soul: A song of Praise

My religion this month has been studying and memorizing the Canticle of Mary, or the Magnificat. My dad today, assigned me to the task of writing my own hymn of praise, just like our Lady. You might have seen the song that I have written when I was eight, and this is one when I am eleven and a half, so enjoy and I except comments and advice. My Soul By Avimar D. My soul rests in in His glorious Mercy, bathed in his profound Power and Love. My soul walks in His footsteps, I never stray, His path is my Life. My soul tells him my seemingly everlasting troubles, He comforts me till I am comforted. My soul feels deeply his countless wounds, the blood he shed, the tears, and the agony he suffered rests in my soul, FOREVER, so that I understand fully his deep message and mystery. I dedicate this to my Grandpa D. and my aunt S. (My grandpa is a permanent deacon and my aunt is a priest's wife)

Happy 3 years!

Although I did write a reminder, today's the day!  Three years ago I made this blog from an inspiration from my aunt.   And because I like crafts and LOVE bluebirds I named it Bluebird Buttons.  Bluebirds 'n' Buttons is my special expression for only very special occasions and this is of course a special occasion!  Special thanks to grandpa W. who marked it on the calendar and invited us over to get some internet connection! It was also my great uncles 75th birthday!  Many happy returns!  And now I need to hurry and rehearse for Jack and The beanstalk Mother goose club play with the family!  Clem is already organizing it with the younger cousins.

Labor Day Greetings!!!

Happy Labor Day, Members, Bloggers, and Family, Friends!  I haven't done a blogpost for crafts in a long time so I shall tell you about the most recent craft the D. Family has made with our dear Grandpa D.  Snakes and Ladders Board Game!  It only takes two medium-sized cardboard pieces.  Use a ruler to draw ladders and squares so that all the cardboard in neatly filled with squares.   Draw big snakes curving down.  Ours is very colorful with engorgement stickers and colorful drawings.  If you know how to play the old-fashioned Chutes and Ladders you can play this game!  I don't have the words to explain the game that well so I'll just say its super fun, you need a dice and the certain number that appears on the dice during your turn you use little things are markers to move up the squares.  The first one to the top wins this game!  Have fun!   I also want to say a big happy birthday to my cousin Joanie and also to my mothers friends little girl whose turning one in late september!  Happy Labor day and God bless!
P.S.  I don't have a picture of the game but here is us and Dad at the Newport Aquarium, ("The Sea And Me") on Slowly the Turtle!(My make believe name for this huge bronze tortoise!) God Bless!

Easter Greetings and Thanks!

Happy Easter!  This Easter of 2013 will really be great!  A new year, a new brother, Abe, and lots more events that have happened during the year!  My craft for the Easter season is crocheted Easter eggs and a springtime billboard!  The pattern for the crocheted Easter eggs is just a simple oval,(ball)and if you want a lovely Easter basket of half a circle!  The spring billboard is just cardboard, felt, scissors, glue, and tacks.  Carefully glue some felt to cover the cardboard.  (It might be smart to have lots more cardboard)Cut designs from more felt like birds, flowers, bugs, etc.  When billboard dried pin some memories, recipes, events, phone numbers, and special dates on your billboard.  It will be a lovely thing to have handy in your kitchen or office!  The picture up above is me and my sister, Hetty and me in our bathrobes.  We are very Oh La La girls and we just finished having a nice warm bath!  The D. girls are so much fun! (The M. girls and boys in Ireland are so talented and fun! I hope you have a lovely Easter cousins!)  I am so blessed to have such a lovely, nice, cool, and amazing family!  Also thank-you, Grandma and Grandpa W. for the lovely St. Patty's Day dinner!  I had a fun time and enjoyed myself a lot!  The potatoes are going to be a blast, Grandma! I'm sure of it!
