Thanksgiving crafts

These crafts are very cute and all you need is papers, oranges, and whole cloves. For the turkey you will need scissors and colored pencils. Trace your hand on the paper. On the hand draw a turkey without the tail. Color the hand brown and red. Put it in the window.

The others are very easy. Mom calls them pomanders- cloves stuck in oranges. (Except when you prick your fingers on the top of the cloves!) They smell good! The boys insisted on making funny faces with theirs. Zack wanted a porcupine.

Dream of Christmas- November Poem

Don't you just love Christmas? I love Christmas so much that I am going to share this nice poem with you.

You try to sleep But you can't
You think of candy piled high
And the joy of toys
Wrapped in paper
You hear the footsteps of St.Nick
Coming down the hall.
He's passing your door
But you don't hear
You're fast asleep once more.

Dairy Queen tray

For Halloween I dressed up as a 1950's waitress. My mother put my costume together. This tray was my favorite part of the costume. I like it because the french fries do not get spoiled and the ice cream does not melt!

Poem of the month

My family and I love poems. Every month I will introduce you to a new poem. This is the poem for this month. It is called "Romantic English."

As the cows move softly with a gentle moo,
That usually means "I love you",
When the pigs move softly with a gentle "oink",
That usually means "I hope you are not bacon that's forsaken, my dear!"

I made this poem up-- it's a funny poem. Autumn is usually butchering season!

Anastasia

Our friend Anastasia has just left. We know we will see her again, but we are just being humorous. We are trying to make a flying machine so we can see her in Phoenix, Arizona. We call our flying machine, "Dancer" in honor of my ballet.

A club has come

Bluebird Buttons has a new club. It is called The Flowers. It is where you read a poem about a flower and you talk about it. You do great crafts and more fun. The club is in my room at floor 15 apartment bunkbed. Please comment for more advice.
P.S. Boys are allowed. We will also be doing a flower walk on October 19th. Join in. And if you can't, I 'll send you a page on how to make our own flower walk. Please be sure to have it where there are lots of flowers. Walking with the flowers, Avimar

Princess Avila I

I drew this picture of me. I hope you like it. It makes me think that I belong to a royal family, which I probably do. I am excited to hear about my godsister Mary Helen who was born on Saturday. You will probably find this news exciting. It's really exciting to me. I'm trying to crochet a hat for my godsister.  I also did this post Because my papa calls me the princes of the family.

how to make paper lace

Paper lace is one of the easiest things to make out of paper. It's very good for practicing of handling the scissors. I made an indian paper lace thats called "Indian's dream." I love the colors I added to it. It was really fun and I hope that you have fun making it, too. Bye for now,

Juice box cellphone

I made this phone out of an old juice box. It was really easy and very fun. I drew a strawberry and above it words that say "shortcake." There are twenty buttons. I gave it twenty buttons because I wanted to make certain secret calls. I hope you enjoy this craft that I have made to share with you. You can use it with any juice box.

Ballet

I will be going to ballet after the Oktoberfest. My RAD instructor is really patient- I hope! My mom and I were looking at character skirts today on the internet. They were very different from what we thought they were going to be. Well I'm practicing stretches and my daddy is too. My little baby sister knows how to do the splits! Maybe she will teach me when she gets older! Bonjour! Avimar

I like your comments

I really like your comments- they really make my day. It feels like my blog is a big hit with my family! I want to put more crafts on my blog. I have these stamps that I experiment with stamping techniques. Any questions? I am here to answer.
Also, my Aunt in Ireland is worried that I have a public blog. Maybe I'll make it private for just my family and close friends. We'll see.

my Book list

I love to read. My dad keeps telling me to keep a book list. My first chapter book was "The Little House in the Woods", then "Farmer Boy", "On the banks of Plum Tree", "By the Shores of Silver Lake", "The Long Winter", "Little Town on the prairie" and "Little house on the Prairie", and "These happy Golden Years". I am a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder as you see, but I also like many other authors. When I'm done a book I will go back and pick out chapters that I really liked and read them again. "Betsy and the Circus", "Betsy and Tacy", "Betsy, Tacy and Tib", "Betsy and Tacy go down town", "Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm", that was interesting about a girl who was raised on a farm but she moved to the city and found that she liked the farm more so she paid off the manager. My uncle Howard gave me "The Ordinary Princess" Uncle Howard loves books to and usually every family gets a book for Christmas but this book he gave me on my birthday. "Rabbit Hill" I got at the library. "Strawberry Girl" was one of my favorites because it is a story of a little girl who changes the heart of a young man and his family and at the end he jumps up and down on his porch saying "I've been baptized, I've been baptized...alleluia." These are the chapter books that I can remember but the children's books that I read for myself and my little brothers are too many to list. Oh yeah there are the Narnia books "The Uncle and His Nephew","The Lion the witch and the Wardrobe(my favorite) "The Horse and His Boy",and "Prince Caspian" and I have a few more chapters till I get to "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader"

My dad has read us some books too but now that he does the garden we don't always read a chapter before bed. We have read "Miss Hickory", "The Hobbit","The Door in the Wall" then "The Rats of Nihm" which we borrowed from the some friends. And now we are reading "Tales by the Mousehole"

I hope that you all love to read.

Bluebird Buttons

Bluebird Buttons is a farmer. He earns his daily bread by planting. Sometimes he pecks at the seeds he is planting. When his seeds have grown, he takes them to mushroom market, where he gets a good price for his food that he sells. Then he and his wife Derby sit and think of next year's crops.

Dusty the Dog

I always take Dusty my stuffed dog for walks. He has a bad habit of chasing cats and takes off at midnight to find dog bones in the park. But he eats his food very slowly, then I don't have to feed him a lot and can save my money for green tea rather than dog food.

Blossom the pink teddy bear

Blossom has been with me ever since I was born. When my family and I moved to the U.S., I forgot to bring Blossom with me from Canada. But my Aunt T did not forget Blossom. She sent Blossom to me and I thank her very much!

Mary the Monkey

Mary the monkey was made by my Grandma C. She was given to me on Christmas Day in the year 2009. She is a very helpful monkey and helps make dinner. She has a very good temper and always does her homeschooling at the proper time it should be done. I recently made her a pink dress helped by a good friend, Melissa.

A Poem for the Lord, a song of joy

I composed this poem after my brother's birthday in November. I read it to my Grandpapa over the phone. He loved it.

God of mercy my God of love and joy,
you gave me love and care
You found me when I was lost
You bent down and fed me.
The Holy Spirit forgave me
Just like you did when I was a sinner.
God of love you gave me comfort when I wept for you.
You gave me strength for love of you
I won't give up hope for you.
You gave me love and life so that I will do your will.
You have faith in me, oh God!
The picture on the right is of myself and Grandpapa Daniel. I am wearing my First Communion dress.

A new character

I like describing the characters in my imagination. My brothers and I have a game we call "Toyland" and the characters are based on our toys. Here is one.... Miss Candy Doggin is the most trusted dog in all of Salem! She never tips her food bowl and is very polite to new friends. She always gives the first cookie to her guest, Bluebird Buttons. She's such a fancy dog and lives in a fancy house, too.

Alice the Doll

We must welcome Alice the new member of bluebird buttons blog. So for the next blog post there will be more information about Alice. Stay tuned for more information about Alice the Doll.

Taegees

This is a craft that I made up. What you need is a piece of paper and a pencil and stickers or you can draw. 1. Write your name on the pice of paper in clear letters. Put a sticker if you want to. 2. Draw a face that looks like you. You can put yarn hair that is like yours, too! You can draw one of your toys, too! It is fun to put them on your door. Have fun making taegees!

Spring is springing

I love spring because the birds are back. It makes me happy to hear the birds sing their songs. You can make snacks for the birds by using bird seed in cups of peanut butter. My birthday is in spring so when the birds sing I think they are singing "Happy Birthday, Avila!"

An Idea

I got this craft out of a book. The book is: The Best of Making Things. You will need an old glove, scissors, glue or needle and thread, and yarn. Cut off fingers of glove. Decorate by sewing or gluing on button eyes, yarn hair and felt ears.

Blogpost

My Aunt Caren gave me an apron and a silpat for Christmas. My Grandma Carolyn gave me her silpat tray. How perfect! The first things I made were chocolate chip cookies. They turned out great and were very good.
