Winco & LifeSource Experiences

Last night we had a wonderful winter picnic, feasting on mugs of potato soup, which was rich and creamy! And as we drunk our fill, a mist enveloped the farm so that we couldn't see the road which runs right in front of our barn. It grew thicker as we spoke, and we needed to do a few errands that night and so bundled up and in the car we made our journey to Winco.

We stopped at LifeSource to get Cod Liver Oil(which we all LOVE!) and we got some other small provisionss. I am not going to give all the details online, but I'm sure you get the picture!

The Winco trip can be described by one word, Crazy.
Now, we are a wonderfully sized family, its very perfect, but when Abe got out of the cart, we took turns holding him and following him thru one aisle after the other.

Also Winco has hardly no covers on their candy selections, and it was very hard to tell Abe, we had to buy them. But he got to pick out a treat for Karol, who as our sweet Yorkshire Rat, needed some encouragement after a weekend of outside! (Dad found something in the guest room.)

It was between a rawhide bone or a pack of ribbony strips.
Abe picked the 'bacon'. This was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not to mention our other shopping expeditions.

What We Do As A Family

Our King Cake for the 12th day of Christmas! We used fondant and icing, and it turned out sort of lemony...We all loved it!

The Creative Saints

•St. Clare, the patron saint of needle workers, learned the intricate embroidery of Siena and worked the beauty into the cloths that covered the altars in the region. •St. Rafqa of Lebanon (the unofficial patron saint of knitters), although blind, crippled, and bed-ridden, spun wool and knit kneeler covers for the sisters in her convent. •St. Thomas Kozaki, one of the Martyrs of Nagasaki, worked with his carpenter father on the cabinetry for the Franciscan Missionaries. •St. Catherine of Bologna was a painter and manuscript illuminator. •Fra Angelico’s famous paintings inspire many to take up a brush. St. John Bosco created a print workshop so that his boys could learn the craft of printing and bookbinding. Not to mention Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, King Solomon who wrote books in the bible. St. Rose of Lima planted Roses for a living to help her family, creativity isn't all that Modern! I saw this, and I at once thought that wouldn't this be a wonderful way to celebrate creativity by honoring the creative saints? I can see a St. Rafqa Knitters Guild, St. Clare's Embroidery Shop, isn't it amazing?

In Brazil, all the colors of the rainbow are used in their products, our friends went on a cruise there and brought back piranha magnet, a rattle/blowgun decorated with feathers, and bags from Aruba. America has just as much color!!!

Advent: No Internet

For Advent this year we aren't going to have any internet or TV. So this is going to be my last blogpost until after Christmas. So its a little different than last year. So this should be an ultimate, counting-for-months post. I mean, until Christmas we won't be at the screen. So I am going to include a few things which will be happening this blessed week! Tomorrow, family is coming, on Wednesday, friends are coming, Thanksgiving going to be such a blast, and the weekend full of partying! When you have a large house, you can't help giving a few get-to-gethers. (I think is would be great if we had a hoe-down, like a barn dance.) Oh, Dad already found the perfect christmas tree. He was driving home when he saw a large christmas tree on the road. Its beautiful and I want to bury my nose in its boughs. On Dec 31st I am getting an operation on my gums, so please keep that intention in your prayers. I'm really nervous. I really hope your holidays will be splendid as we get together for another christmas and New Year. I will pray that you each have a marvelous time with your families! God Bless You!

As a bird lover(And a blessings counter)

Oh to be a bird! was my reaction as numerous sparrows flew from the treetops. It was a windy Saturday. I'm sure all of Salem and Turner were watching as the leaves swirled thru the air. It was such a blustery day. All the boys ran out over the fields, yelling like crazy, while my and Hetty ran in circles enjoying the gusts. Our hair whipped our faces quite cruelly, and so we took shelter of the garage where Dad was working. It would be pretty strange to have all the people in the world, have wings and beaks, and fly about, pecking on each other as they are doing now throughout the world. It was just a thought. When I was seven I spun a little romance about a bluebird, who married a bluebird. Altogether it was five chapter's long, and he had just met her when they suddenly got engaged and had three birdies of their own. It is a deep regret that that story is lost in time. Hopefully we will see it when we reach heaven, since I'm sure God keeps all the little memories, of my typing my funny novel into the computer, of me reading it under the cherry tree on 63rd street, and of my hard earnest work as I put together the engagement. I wish I could live those days again. Growing up as a 12 year old can be a bit dramatizing, and difficult, especially at this time.

I found this lovely button on etsy. I thought it would be just perfect for this blog as a logo. Its taken years to find the right one, hasn't it. But unfortunately my blogger skills are limited, and I really must have an experienced blogger help me fit this in. But I do love it! Its so cute and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. We're pretty simple. We have cable but we only watch TBN or EWTN, We are trying to at least have four outfits, and simplifying our toy supply since the move. But we are the luckiest kids in the world! We have a huge farm, ten acres, we have a cow, Moon, we have a sweet Yorkshire/Rat terrier, Karol, and a princely cat called Marvin, and twenty-nine chicks. Life here is based on counting your blessings.
